SketchUp - 4 Video Tutorials - New to Google SketchUp

Part 1-Concepts
The below screen shots show the progress of the videos with my screenshots following along and completing what they are demonstrating in the how to videos.

The Pan function

Zooming function

Orbit is blue to the right of the triangle which really allows you to get underneath the objects

Part 2-Drawing Shapes
There were a lot of handy features for drawing shapes, including pulling shapes up and down to make shapes bigger and smaller as we go along.

Some handy rules
1) Draw full loops
2) Red, green and blue planes - Infer as sketch and stay hovered a full 2 seconds, then continue drawing.
3) Use inference points
4) Always draw to and from edges

 Part 3-Modify Tools
Some of the neat things were being able to move parts and whole objects. As a beginner, the one major thing I found very useful in the videos was the esc button for undo, and utilizing the menu function, edit undo, for undo as well. I probably utilized this more than the functions!

Part 4 -  Building A Chair

For this first chair, we started with a box shape and pushed various pieces out from the box to create our chair.  We were building with subtractions from the original box to create the chair.

In drawing a shape, we placed lines outside the box, and used the push to get the pieces pushed out.

You are also able  to align the legs with each other.

You can see the first chair to the left, and we are now adding a second chair... using the pulling method.
In this second chair, we are creating the shapes and pulling out from the first and original square we are starting with. This is a much different way to create our chair in comparison to the first chair we already completed.

Now you can see the two newly created chairs!
